One of the initial aims of psychotherapy is to uncover the relationship of the ego to the unconscious.
Many of the disturbances, anxieties, blockages that individuals come to psychotherapy for, are rooted around the conscious - unconscious axis. There are very practical tools at our disposal to bring light to the psyche as a whole and the unconscious complexes that affect our relationship to ourselves, to others and also to the world around us.
As Jung said, “whatever we do not face in the unconscious comes to us as fate.”
These tools are Typology, Dream Interpretation, drawing and picture analysis, Word Association and Active Imagination.
